Crowns and Bridges

If the loss of substance of a tooth is caused by cavities, a crown may need to be placed to restore its chewing function and form. Tooth gaps can be closed because of medical or aesthetic reasons to harmonise the chewing forces in the mouth and to complete the teeth again.

If the adjacent teeth need to be treated or have major fillings and damages or have already been prepared for crowns, the classical, fixed bridge might still be the right decision. Neighbouring teeth that are not in a perfect condition can serve as anchors for the bridge.

Healthy neighbouring teeth should not be treated for the placing of a bridge and therefore an implant would be the preferred option to spare healthy tooth substance.

Should a perfect, aesthetic effect be required, all ceramic crowns and bridges can create an unmatched, natural-looking appearance. In addition, these bridges which are free of precious metal and thus independent of rising prices of precious metals, might offer a more affordable alternative, also for panel patients.
